Who is Noddy Virtue??
Noddy Virtue, a consummate performer, accepted music as the most passionate and all encompassing activity in his life.
Born October, in the Bread Basket parish of St. Elizabeth, as a community tradition made farming his first occupation. Noddy’s talent as a singer/entertainer was exposed at an early age as he was always called upon to perform at school, church, funerals and community activities, where he earned the name Singing T.
The commendations he received strengthened his resolve to pursue his lifelong dream of one day becoming a recognized performing and recording artiste.
In 2004, he watched the Digicel’s Rising Star Competition with much anxiety, knowing fully-well that he had the ability to compete creditably when given the opportunity. Encouraged by his sister, Michelle Virtue, in 2005 he entered the competition, where he established himself very early as a possible winner. Throughout the competition, he performed some of the most difficult local and internationally accepted songs, finishing second place winner.
Noddy has performed on many local major stages such as, Jamaica Jazz & Blues, Rebel Salute, Reggae Sumfest, Richie Stephens’ Take Me Away; internationally, he has performed at Irie Jamboree in New York, and other reggae shows in Hartford, Connecticut, Atlanta, Georgia and in South Florida.
His album, “Just Believe” was officially released May 2009. The album can be accessed through download on the internet, V.P. Records, Moses Production and some record stores in Jamaica and overseas.
“Just Believe” depicts his dreams, passion and aspirations with the kind of versatility not often experienced, with Lovers Rock, R&B, Cultural and inspirational songs. The album is experiencing continued success with a number of songs like “Sang To Me”, “Love Jah”, “Bed Of Roses” and “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling”, gracing international charts.
Although he is predominantly a soloist, in recent times, he also performs as a duet with the talented Jodian Pantry, which has brought them tremendous success. He has collaborated three tracks on his album with her. They were the proud winners of the 2008 Excellency in Music and Entertainment Award (E.M.E) Best Collaboration Reggae. They were also nominated for a similar award in 2009 with the song “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling”.
